Clark McMillan is a graduate of the BFA program at NSCAD, and is currently living and working as a visual artist in Victoria BC. His recent work consists of impactful, large-scale paintings that depict a primal and celebratory connection to the animal kingdom, that makes the viewer contemplate their own relationship to the natural world. In looking upon Clark's paintings, one cannot help but feel the vibrant personalities of the animals he depicts, leading to questions of hierarchical consciousness and personal beliefs regarding levels of sentience in living creatures. A colorful palette and loose approach to mark-making paired with mandala-like compositions give his work a sense of spiritual whimsy that is most unique.
